LIBERALISM - An idea for all!
Modern day liberalism in Australia traces back to the 12th Prime Minister of Australia, Sir Robert Menzies. Menzies was one of Australia's most successful leaders with an unmatched eighteen years as Prime Minister - sixteen of them consecutively from 1949 to 1966.
Menzies was one of the most significant drivers of Liberalism and used it as his guiding principal in creating an ideology for all and the governing of a continent.
The Victorian Liberal Students' Association believes in:
- The innate worth of the individual and personal responsibility
- Freedom of speech, thought, association, choice, and worship.
- Equality of Opportunity.
- Creation of wealth and competitive enterprise.
- Parliamentary Democracy.
- Rule of Law and Order
These are the key values of modern-day Australian liberalism that guided Menzies in governing and building Australia during one of the nation's most prosperous economic ages.
